Our solution to combat overproduction: tailor-made

Notre solution pour lutter contre la surproduction : le sur-mesure

Taking a smarter approach to quantity and only making garments to order eliminates overproduction, which is good for the planet. Custom uniforms have always had sustainable roots and are a role model in the apparel industry thanks to the longevity of their products and thoughtful production. The concept of smart quantity involves producing only what is needed, with workshops making only the amount of fabric required for each uniform order, leaving zero excess inventory.

The longevity built into luxury uniforms comes from their high quality, design and specification, which sets this sector apart from an often problematic industry. A high-quality uniform is designed to be worn multiple times a week for over 18 months, while fast fashion garments are typically worn only six times on average. Luxury uniform designers work with their clients to assess staff volumes and use technical data on global body sizes to accurately estimate fabric usage down to the centimetre.

Akho's Commitment to Sustainable Uniforms

Sustainability is at the heart of our approach when creating new uniforms for our ethical and eco-conscious clients. Every step of our creation has been considered to adopt a world-class sustainable approach, constantly refined with the latest initiatives, processes and materials.

Over the course of our collaborations, we have strengthened these sustainable pillars with numerous environmentally friendly advances, leading to a holistic approach that encompasses design, manufacturing, materials, delivery and much more. And this, in addition to the concepts of intelligent quantity and long-term use of clothing.

Sustainable design

Our design team offers designs that reduce the number of garment sizes needed, minimising unused stock. We also look to incorporate innovative ideas that facilitate the interchangeability of garments, allowing a smaller range of designs to suit different roles within the business.

Smart sourcing

We ensure that all fabrics are responsibly sourced, primarily from second-cycle production, which significantly reduces the impact of our garment production on the planet.

Optimized transport

Our fabric and garment factories are chosen for their proximity, reducing our carbon footprint from transportation. For our customers based in Europe, we concentrate all manufacturing in the region, reducing travel while improving quality.

Eco-responsible and fair manufacturing

We regularly visit our partner factories to ensure the best working conditions and wages, while using initiatives consistent with our commitments.
